Lake Mburo national park is Uganda’s smallest savannah park situated in western Uganda covering 100 square miles of land in Kiruhura district. Over 20% of the park is covered by wetland including 13 small lakes , papyrus swamps , woodland and savannah vegetation which shelter a variety of wild animals plus birds.  The park is home to 68 species of mammal including the Burchell’s zebras, Impalas, warthogs, elands, waterbucks, buffalos, reedbucks, leopards, lions among others. Up to 350 species of birds have been recorded including the rare giant Shoe bill stork, African fin foot, Crested Francolin, Brown-chested lapwing, Abyssinian ground hornbill, Grey hornbill, Red-faced barbet among others.
Activities at the Lake Mburo park include game drives, boat cruise, nature walks, Rubanga forest walk, sport fishing, bird watching, community visits etc.

Getting there- (Routes , Distance & Time)
Lake Mburo is located 235 km from Kampala and a self drive road trip to the park will last about 3 Hours and 30 minutes passing via the Masaka rd and connecting to the Mbarara- Masaka road. If you’re driving  from Mbarara, it will take only 1 Hour to get to the park using the Mbarara- Masaka road.
